Live Performance Model LX High-Resolution Reproducing Piano System
TPR is the New England representative and licensed installer of the Model LX high-resolution reproducing piano system, the latest offering from Wayne Stahnke and his company Live Performance. This is a wonderful player mechanism that installs unobtrusively to the underside of grand pianos, but can also be added to fine quality uprights.
The LX makes full use of the capabilities of modern electronics. 1020 dynamic levels for each note, with keyboard sample rates of 800 samples per second, provide a high resolution of articulation and dynamics head and shoulders above the competition.
The LX has full proportional pedaling, with 256 pedal positions and 100 pedal samples per second. This feature, perhaps more than any other, gives the sense of the presense of the performer. The damper control is stunning, employing the full range of motion available.
The pedal solenoid works traditional trapwork, the system of levers that come with the instrument, designed to function with subtlety and stability.
The mounting rail of the LX is a steel structure, which reinforces the keybed where an opening is made so that the note solenoids may play the keys. This system is discreetly hidden from view under the keybed.
The LX will play all CD's made for reproducing pianos (with the exception of those encrypted, which cannot by law be reproduced).
But finally, it is the musicality of this system that astonishes. Hearing music played in the acoustic setting of a room through the piano's physical soundboard is entirely different from hearing a recording through speakers, however high quality. And the dynamic range is the same as originally played, although the volume can be attenuated to meet the listener's requirements.
We at The Piano Rebuilders feel that the Model LX reproducing system matches our aspirations for highest standards. A well regulated, structurally sound, and finely voiced instrument is needed for the LX to sound its best. Our rebuilding expertise qualifies us to prepare the piano and fit the system to best advantage. Please contact us for quotes, consultation, and installation.
